YOUTH LED: The Politics of Pollution: Looking At Our Planet Through A Different Lens

November 5, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Who stands to gain from the destruction of a building? The people who swung the wrecking ball into the concrete wall – the same people who will clear the area to expand their factory into it. This is exactly what is happening to our planet. The key instigators of climate change are deforestation, plastic pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. But who instigates those? More importantly, how – and why – do they get away with it?
This workshop will explore the power dynamics in the global response to climate change, and why some politicians are so vocal about their disbelief towards its impending threat. The economic benefits of plastic pollution and environmentally unfriendly industries will also be explained, as well as why so many establishments get away with fueling climate change, and why we can’t simply stop supporting them. By the end of this workshop, you will have a better understanding of the intricacies of the global responses to climate change and pollution. You will also be able to analyze different notable events pertaining to the politics of global warming. Arguably the most beneficial skill you can learn from this workshop is a clearer idea of how to make a significant positive impact on your planet, and help save it, despite the control large establishments hold over environmental improvement.
